Artificial neural network modeling of microwave-assisted heat pump drying process

Abstract Recently, microwave-assisted drying is an emerging technique that can help to accelerate the water removal process. In this paper, a experimental study of carrot slides presented. A heat pump dryer fabricated where agent temperature, supplied microwave power, and circulative fan speed are easy adjust. series 61 experiments conducted with range temperature from 35 °C 45 °C, power 0 1.25 W/gram, air velocity varied 0.55 m/s 1.70 m/s. The kinetics dehydration process analyzed. Based on obtained result, suitable intensive conditions for slices proposed. To extend applicability study, artificial neural network (ANN) model developed. Instead estimating individual in previous studies, established entire conditions. results indicate proposed ANN predicts adequately.
